Few expect the fickle Kevin McCarthy, the Republican House leader, to resist the Trumpian right, even though he has praised Mr Zelensky as “a modern-day Winston Churchill”. If they make up a bigger share of Republicans in the House-where spending bills originate-and particularly if they hold the balance of power, it will become harder to provide more aid to Ukraine. Still, he frets, they could grow larger after the elections. maga disciples are still a minority among congressional Republicans. Such boasting amounts to “wish-casting”, says Eric Edelman, a former Pentagon official under George W. ![]() Republican leaders, he predicted, would not be able to stop Trumpists like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz “from dictating our Ukraine policy”. “Fact is if the Republicans take over the House in 2022 us support to Ukraine will come to a halt,” tweeted Ruben Gallego, a House Democrat. He denounced the recent aid for Ukraine, saying: “The Democrats are sending another $40bn to Ukraine, yet America’s parents are struggling to even feed their children.” His base might be energised if, in coming weeks, he announces he will run for president again in 2024. Mr Trump still holds much of the party in thrall. Armor in the superstructure is especially problematic because it adds weight high in a ship, which can affect stability.” “You don’t want armor to get in the way of sensors like radar, and countermeasures like EW systems, and of weapons launchers like VLS. “Adding more armor to ships would be helpful, but will add weight and could impact the ability to place sensors, weapons, and other mission systems where they are most effective,” Clark said. In either case, added armor might impact the vessels’ stability and maneuverability. However, there is a trade off, the ship would necessarily have to dedicate more space to carry armor-or it would have to be larger. If a DDG were struck forward, as in this case, weapons and sensors would be even more likely to end up out of commission.” Clark agreed that there is an argument to be made to adding armor to modern warships. For example, a DDG hit by a small ASCM that damages the aft VLS magazine and helo hangar would not necessarily take a DDG completely out of service, but the loss of weapons capacity and of aft-facing sensors like SLQ-32 may make the ship too vulnerable to operate in a contested environment. It is also driven by improving threats and the number of fragile, interconnected sensors, computers, and weapons launchers distributed throughout the ship. “That is not only a function of having less armor on today’s warships, however. A small ASCM may not cause a comparable level of damage as this collision.” “I agree this shows how a modern warship is relatively easy to take out of action,” Clark said. “To cause similar damage with a missile, you would need a large warhead that causes a lot of hull and fire damage or a torpedo that damages the ship below the waterline. “This is a mission kill on Fitzgerald that will require months and likely more than $100 million to repair,” Bryan Clark, a former naval officer and senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments told The National Interest.

![]() “Such… techniques would remain at the heart of special effects production for the next century” (Rickitt 2000, 10). He placed a Mary dummy in the actor's place, restarted filming, and allowed the executioner to bring the axe down, severing the dummy's head. As the executioner brought the axe above his head, Clarke stopped the camera, had all of the actors freeze, and had the person playing Mary step off the set. While filming a reenactment of the beheading of Mary, Queen of Scots, Clarke instructed an actor to step up to the block in Mary's costume. In 1895, Alfred Clarke created what is commonly accepted as the first-ever special effect. Examples include the ejector seat of James Bond's Aston Martin, R2D2 in the Star Wars films, or the zero-gravity effects employed in 2001: A Space Odyssey. These include mechanized props, scenery, and pyrotechnics. The second type is mechanical effects (also called practical or physical effects), which are accomplished during the live-action shooting. A good example of an optical effect would be a scene in Star Trek depicting the USS Enterprise flying through space. Optical effects can be produced with either photographic (that is, optical printer) or visual (that is, CGI) technology. The first type is optical effects (also called visual or photographic effects), which rely on manipulation of a photographed image. ![]() Special effects are traditionally divided into two types. Often several different techniques are used together in a single scene or shot to achieve the desired effect. Many different special effects techniques exist, ranging from traditional theater effects or elaborately staged as in the "machine plays" of the Restoration spectacular, through classic film techniques invented in the early twentieth century, such as aerial image photography and optical printers, to modern computer-generated imagery (CGI). This adds to the experience of movies with such things as explosions or any loud scenes. As it is now, people can buy a home theater that will literally shake their house using a sub-woofer. As people become more creative and wanting different experiences, multi-sensual items may become attainable in the average home. These rides include the use of moving chairs and added scents to enhance the experience. Already, there are attractions that use special effects in a simulator environment. Someday, special effects may go beyond visual. With the advent of computer graphics imaging, special effects are also used to enhance previously-filmed elements, by adding, removing or enhancing objects within the scene. They are also used when creating the effect by normal means is prohibitively expensive for example, it would be extremely expensive to construct a sixteenth-century castle or to sink a twentieth-century ocean liner, but these can be simulated with special effects. Special effects (abbreviated SPFX or SFX) are used by the film, television, and entertainment industries to realize scenes, such as space travel, that cannot be achieved by live action or normal means. Lasers were used in the 2005 Classical Spectacular concert. ![]() I must go now - something is scratching at the door. If I fear for my health then, I will put in and take some rest. Though only a small condolence, one cannot be contaminated just by sitting next to an affected person in the early stages of infection. It all starts with these irrefutable facts about air travel:ġ) All passengers are confined to the same enclosed space.Ģ) All passengers are breathing THE SAME AIR.ģ) Ebola can become airborne via very small particles in the air, and just a single Ebola virus riding on a dust particle is sufficient to infect a human being.Ĥ) Following the flight, infected passengers then intermingle with thousands of other people at the airport, each going to a different unique destination somewhere else across the country or around the world.ĥ) The speed of air travel vastly out-paces the speed of governments being able to deploy infectious disease prevention teams.” ![]() “Air travel creates the "perfect storm" for Ebola to devastate humanity. Natural News gives us a look at what the Director-General is talking about and what we might see happen these next days and weeks. The problem with Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) is that symptoms typically start two days to three weeks after contracting the virus meaning that people can be boarding planes already infected without them or medical officials’ knowledge. Because Ebola’s incubation period is two to 21 days and early symptoms aren’t specific, using thermal scanners to detect fevers is costly, unlikely to detect anyone infected with Ebola "and is not encouraged," according to the WHO. Screening is costly and detected few cases after an outbreak in 2003 of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, or SARS, that began in China. The World Health Organization isn’t recommending screening airline passengers leaving the region of Guinea, Liberia or Sierra Leone. Has air travel doomed humanity to a pandemic outbreak?Īirline travelers are not being screened for Ebola. Global medical charity Doctors Without Borders has given warning that the Ebola crisis in West Africa is " unprecedented, absolutely out of control and can only get worse." Bart Janssens, the charity’s director of operations, warned there was no overarching vision of how to tackle the outbreak. Other headlines read, “ Ebola can spread like ‘forest fire,’ US warns.” That sounds contagious! Alarmingly, as the Public Health Agency of Canada explains, "1 – 10 aerosolized organisms are sufficient to cause infection in humans." That sounds extremely contagious meaning if a badly infected patient gets on a plane or bus and sneezes or vomits it’s all over for many people. On this USA video report they say that most people are going to die and in the same breath say, it is not that contagious. “If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also severe socioeconomic disruption and a high risk of spread to other countries,” she said. “This outbreak is moving faster than our efforts to control it,” Director-General Margaret Chan told the presidents of Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast at a gathering in Conakry, the capital of Guinea. The director-general of the World Health Organization warned Friday that the Ebola outbreak in West Africa is spreading quickly and the consequences could be “catastrophic” if greater efforts to control the outbreak aren’t put into place now. This video says that merely the suspicion of a limited Ebola outbreak in the United States would give the green light for federal authorities to seize draconian powers and detain Americans not even infected with the Ebola virus. Bush in April 2003, which allows for the, “apprehension, detention, or conditional release of individuals to prevent the introduction, transmission, or spread of suspected communicable diseases.” The executive order, titled Revised List of Quarantinable Communicable Diseases, amends executive order 13295, passed by George W.
